A Terrifying Thought!

Awakened at 3:00am a few weeks back, immediately a terrifying thought came upon me. I thought of my 10-month-old Great Grandson and his future, [his eternal future.] I realized that I might not have a whole lot of time left here on earth, and if the Lord should tarry concerning His second Coming; although I may be granted 10 or 20 more years, I may not even finish this writing over the next few days! We all have an “Expiration Date,” but only God knows that exact date, we do not! Thinking of my Great Grandson, I wondered, “If I am gone, who is going to point him towards, or tell him about Jesus as he grows older?” His mother [My Gran Daughter] although brought up knowing about Jesus and the gift of salvation, seems to have lost interest in God and the Bible, at least judging by what I can see and hear.  Her parents also raised in a Christian environment, they too have drifted from God over the years and there is little to no evidence that they are seeking to draw closer to him any time soon either. Like so many others, they are all “caught up in the world” and show little interest in God and the Bible.  I do send them my writings and various [inspirational clips] from time to time, but I rarely, if ever, get any kind of response one-way, or the other from any of them; I suspect they mostly go unread. Therefore, the question remains, “Who if anyone will tell my Great Grandson about Jesus when I am gone from this earth?

I am by no means alone in these concerns; I have a few friends and acquaintances facing similar dilemmas with their children and Gran Children. The sad fact is our world is more secularized than ever, with few signs of things improving. People, especially young people, face temptations and distractions us older folks have never even imagined. Everywhere you look, sexual sin is promoted, and the so-called “F-Bomb” dominates even general conversations with no concern whatsoever that it might be offensive to some hearers. Every passing week seems more secular - more Godless than the previous one! I will continue to do all I can to steer not only my family, but also all people I encounter towards God and the Bible until my last breath, but the ultimate choice is theirs, I cannot save them, only Jesus can! Evangelism is scarce at a time when all the signs Jesus told us to look for concerning His return are happening all around us! Yes, some of these signs have always been, but the difference concerning the time we are living now is the “Convergence” of the signs. Matthew 24:33 (AMP) 33  So also when you see these signs, all taken together, coming to pass, you may know of a surety that He is near, at the very doors. In prior years, there was a missing piece of the puzzle, Israel, which must be re-gathered to its original land before the second coming of Jesus can take place. This happened May 14th 1948!  No one knows the exact day of the Lord’s return, therefore, if the Lord should delay his coming past the age of accountability, my Great Gran Son’s Eternal life may be at stake! Your eternal life is also at stake if you are not a Christ Follower! Who will tell my Great Gran Son about Jesus after I am gone… a terrifying thought! Time is short; however, all I can do is sow “the seeds of the Gospel,” the ultimate choice is that of the hearers of the Gospel.
